Portrait of Jean Feline © Stefano Marchionini

Jean Feline was born in Nîmes in 1989. He lives and works in Marseille. He graduated from Chelsea College of Art in London (UK) and studied at the Cooper Union in New York (US) under Walid Raad. In 2021, he launched FÉRIA, a project space located in Belsunce, Marseille.

Jean Feline’s practice is punctuated by drawing and sculpture, acting as images of psychological spaces. He sees his works as tools of perception, translating emotions and feelings into form. Tackling subjects such as mental health and parenthood, his work evokes a disparity of fragile states, whether physical, emotional or subconscious. His works are thus to be read as (self)portraits in the form of spatial diagrams of an affective body. Influenced by Arte Povera, Jean uses simple, everyday materials, drawing attention to the transitory, ephemeral nature of his works.
