Part of the Sawa Sawa Residency Program, in partnership with the French Institute of Jerusalem.

Lina Bani Odeh lives and works in Bethlehem, Palestine.

Lina Bani Odeh is a visual artist whose work explores themes of spaces, and the intricate relationship between the space, the body, and the psyche. Born from a deep curiosity about how different environments — whether personal, intimate, or public — affect our emotions, behaviors, and sense of self and how these spaces shape human experiences and interactions.

Her new project, Not So Private, marks a new chapter in her research, one in which the artist becomes both subject and object, attempting to untangle her personal relationship with the multiple spaces she traverses. At the intersection of introspection and self-duplication, Not So Private imposes upon Lina Bani Odeh a slow creation process, inherent to the vulnerabilities she exposes.

After obtaining her visual art degree from the International Academy of Art in Palestine, Lina Bani Odeh dove into a multifaceted career blending artistic practice with cultural leadership. She has exhibited widely in Palestine, including at Al Ma’mal Foundation and The Walled Off Gallery, and internationally in Lebanon and France. In 2020, she held her first solo exhibition “Personal Space”, at Al-Mustawda3. Lina Bani Odeh has also worked with major Palestinian cultural institutions, including Dar Jacir for Art and Research, Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center, and Qalandiya International, managing art spaces, curating exhibitions, and coordinating events.
