Virginie Barré
Virginie Barré’s drawings, highly stylized and with an aesthetic close to comic art, depict characters who appear surprisingly natural. Some of them could be acquaintances or passersby, while others are easily recognizable actors from cult films. She thus gives everyone the feeling that their everyday life is tinged with fiction, and that scenes from movies are woven into it. Her sculptures—street mannequin-like figures posed to represent tragic news events—operate within the realm of crime.
