Les Nouveaux Commanditaires

Since 2024, Triangle-Astérides has been serving as a relay mediator for the Nouveaux commanditaires initiative.

The Nouveaux commanditaires initiative enables groups of people to collaborate with artists and commission artworks that address issues relevant to them. It is open to everyone—residents of small towns or large cities, rural communities or major metropolises—regardless of age, origin, or background. The process relies on highly specialized support provided by trained and accredited mediators.

Launched in the early 1990s by Fondation de France, the artistic protocol of Nouveaux commanditaires, proposed by artist François Hers, has led to the creation of more than 500 works in France and abroad, across a wide variety of contexts and disciplines: visual arts, design, theatre, literature, cinema, music, architecture, sciences, and even comics.

Since 2020, the association La Société des Nouveaux commanditaires has brought together the network of mediators and ensured the development of this initiative, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Fondation de France.
