2025 Open call
Open call
The call for applications is closed (Until 21 June 2024)
Apply to become a resident or associate artist at Triangle-Astérides in 2025!
— The residency program (program 1) is intended for early/midcareer artists from French (excluding Marseilles) and international scenes, regardless of age or nationality.
— The associate artists program (program 2, open since 2023) is intended for early/midcareer artists from the local scene, based in Marseilles and its surroundings.
The selection process is completed in two stages:
— during the first stage all applications are read and considered carefully and a preselection process is completed by two independent curators (usually a French representative / an international representative) commissioned by Triangle-Astérides and different each year;
— the second and final stage is a jury selection which takes place over two days in September. The jury is made up of a curator and an artist (French and international representatives), commissioned by Triangle-Astérides and different each year, and of two members of the Triangle-Astérides team.
Each year, the Triangle-Astérides jury curates a mixed selection in terms of artistic practice, training background, age, gender and nationality.
All applicants will be notified mid-September 2024.
residency
Call for applications for a research residency, intended for early/mid-career artists from the French (excluding Marseilles) and international scenes, without age or nationality criteria, for a period of 10 weeks.
The call is addressed to artists in the field of visual arts, all mediums combined. The art center offers the possibility of welcoming duos, and of coming with a partner and/or child(ren), taking into account the community living conditions implied by the shared apartment.
Session #1: from January 27 to April 4, 2025
Session #2: from April 22 to July 1, 2025
Session #3: from September 15 to November 24, 2025
The program offers:
— a 60 m2 studio at Triangle-Asterides (individual, unless the application is submitted by a duo);
— curatorial support;
— the organization of professional visits and networking;
— an open studio evening;
— a single room (or two rooms, for duos) in a 90 m2 apartment with four bedrooms in total, shared with other residents and/or guests of Triangle-Asterides (shared bathroom, kitchen and living room) in the city center of Marseilles;
— a residence grant of 1000 euros ATI per month, paid to the artist upon presentation of a fee note (for duos, the grant will be paid to the administrative entity and cannot be duplicated);
— a fee of 150 euros ATI for the open studio (for duos, the fee will be paid to the administrative entity and cannot be duplicated).
Please note, Triangle-Asterides does not cover the outbound trip to Marseille, but is committed to providing any support necessary to find additional funds for the artists’ arrival.
This program includes temporary accommodation which is why it is not open to the local scene, for which the associated artists program was designed (program no. 2), allowing support over a longer period of time. Please only apply to one of the two programs, depending on your place of residence.
associate artists
Call for applications to the associate artists program, offering a studio and curatorial support for 11 months at Triangle-Asterides, intended for early/midcareer artists from the local scene (Marseilles and its metropolitan area), without age or nationality criteria.
A single annual session: from January 13 to December 15, 2025
The associate artists program offers:
— a 60 to 90 m2 studio at Triangle-Asterides (individual, unless the application is submitted by a duo or collective);
— curatorial support;
— the organisation of professional visits and networking;
— three evenings of open studios over the year (on the same dates as for each of the three residency sessions);
— fees of 150 euros ATI for each of the three open studios;
— the regular proposal of complementary income-generating projects integrated into the programming of the art center: performances, editorial projects, projects linked to specific audiences…, according to the practice of the artist(s) and their expressed needs.
Because this program does not include accommodation, it is only open to artists living in Marseilles and its surroundings (within commuting distance of Triangle-Astérides). Please apply for only one of the two programs, depending on where you live.
