Alain Rivière is an Astérides Resident in 2001, 2002 and 2003. The archives of Triangle-Astérides do not allow for the determination of the exact dates or the duration of this residency in 2001, 2002 and 2003.

Alain Rivière was born in 1958 in Paris (FR), he lives and works in the south of France

Alain Rivière is a visual artist, filmmaker, and teacher at the Fine Arts School of Marseille. He lives, works, and keeps a distance in the south of France.

He develops, writes Jean-Yves Jouannais, “a work that seems to be the anarchic and polymorphic expansion of a very old and long-forgotten dream, which was supposed to be a book, the book. […] On closer inspection, it appears that this draft of a commercial catalog is more of an encyclopedia project. An encyclopedia of a world that does not exist. An encyclopedia that would not explain a world, but would attempt to constitute it. And the mode of constitution of this world would be less about inventory or compilation, and more about removal, palinode, and erasure.”
