Anatole Maillot-Rosély

2004, 2005

Anatole Maillot-Rosély is an Astérides Resident in 2004 and 2005. The archives of Triangle-Astérides do not allow for the determination of the exact dates or the duration of this residency in 2004 and 2005.

Anatole Maillot-Rosély lives and works in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region (FR)

Anatole Maillot-Rosély creates compositions using collage, cut-outs, layering, as well as found or handmade objects. He blends personal photographs with images from current events: the intimate and the political intertwine; personal imagination and events reported in the media resonate with one another. Through the dialogue he constructs between them, unexpected narratives and new emotions emerge, governed by the artist’s own rhythm. By inviting questioning and encounter, he opens, in a world we experience as contradictory and uncertain, the possibility of a shared space-time and the existence of underlying connections.

Anatole Maillot-Rosély, a graduate of the École supérieure d’art d’Aix-en-Provence, grew up between Aix-en-Provence and Réunion Island. He lives and works in Banon. Alongside his work as a visual artist, he is also active as a videographer (video designer and technician). He has collaborated with various organizations such as Le 104-Centquatre Paris, the Festival International d’Art Lyrique d’Aix-en-Provence, Système Friche Théâtre Marseille, Festival Actoral-Marseille, Cie Diphtong-Hubert Colas, Cie Amala Dianor, Cie Théâtre Mobile-Christian Giriat, and Villa Méditerranée Marseille. From 2008 to 2015, he worked as a videographer / VJ for the electro-hip hop music group ChineseMan, touring extensively in France and internationally. This experience, among other things, gave rise to his interest in visual sampling and image appropriation. Since 2015, he has been the chief video technician for the Avignon (in) Festival.
