It is a question of landscapes and lights, of their metamorphoses and transformations. A life of encounters with landscapes often outside cities, their inhabitants, their lights. The media used have shifted over time: first sculptural, the increasingly discreet and ephemeral works harmonize with a light, a landscape, an architecture. Caroline Duchatelet then began creating in-situ light compositions in dialogue with daylight, attentive to the transformations it brings about. In 2009, while a resident at the Villa Medici, she began filming light and its metamorphoses in the landscape, including a series devoted to dawn. She is now exploring a new photographic gesture, the gaze-breaths, a welcoming gesture guided by listening to the landscape and by the rhythm of breathing.
