Claude Horstmann was born in Minden (DE), she lives and works in Stuttgart, Berlin (DE) and Marseille (FR)

“I question space and language through various means and media, especially drawing, installation and performance/reading, but also through screen printing and printed editions. Abstract forms, words and phrases are drawn or found in the urban space. They may have a sculptural aspect or appear on different supports (paper, book, etc.) as well as within a given space. This concerns the line, the sign, black, white, the minimal or the monumental. Indeed, my interest lies in everything related to inscription: layer, surface, superposition, notation, pictorial language. This also includes the unpredictable, space, white, the conditions and materials that exist in a place.”
