“Contemporary photography is marked by three main approaches. The most common is documentary photography, which takes a critical or non-critical look at reality. Narrative photography is closer to cinema and the personal diary. The third approach draws on the tradition of painting and presents “canvases.”
My work lies at the intersection of these three major approaches. I bring together fragments of the material world, personal elements, as well as elements from the history of art and photography. With these fragments, I construct a particular narrative, which is none other than an exploration of my own experience of reality. This fragmented and protean conception of the image opens up a broad field of interpretations and readings for the viewer.
Photography thus imposed itself on me as an obvious choice. Indeed, the relevance of this medium allows me to address the issues that are important to me. For me, photography is both a tool for questioning the material world and human memory, and a means of exploring themes such as violence, love, desire, monstrosity, human nature, and its paradoxes.”
