Nicolas Simarik is an engaged and committed artist. He regularly works in areas facing social and economic difficulties, enjoys working with audiences who are distant from the cultural sphere, and creates forms of art that often involve the participation of local residents. The notion of conviviality is an important dimension of his projects, as is that of duration: he takes the time to allow projects to mature. This “in and off” artist works across a wide range of fields and likes to make the self-evident nature of these forms accessible to as many people as possible. All his projects emerge from this connection to the territory and from a reflection on the environment in which a project takes place.
