Rachel Poignant inherits from the Minimalists the same approach to composition through permutation and combinations. But the elementary figure here is not geometry; rather, it is a moment within the process of shaping: the pour. The artist draws on practice, cooking, and its breadth as a figure of reality, an element to be grasped and explored. Capturing the pour, capturing this moment in sculpture through its slightest variations, would be what is most fundamental to observe.
