Bouillaque* is an event designed to explore word-of-mouth communication, sharing vivid stories, contagious information, and things that aren’t quite what they seem.
Rumors often have a bad reputation. These circulating whispers, collective acts of speech with no apparent authors and seemingly elusive origins, document the dissonances of a collective unconscious. However, the world’s oldest medium (so they say) is also a mode of communication that, alongside pamphlets, graffiti, and subjective stories, serves to share information unofficially.
The audience is invited to a collective conversation over a meal with Stephen Wright, a rumorologist and founder of the Observatory of Rumors in Marseille.
*In Languedoc language, a “bouillaque” can refer to gossip or a storyteller.
