Triangle France's Fifth Gala
Between 2008 and 2017, Triangle France organized 7 editions of a charity gala, with the funds raised supporting the operations of the association. Between 40 and 70 artworks, produced and donated by artists closely linked to the institution, were offered for sale, allowing Triangle France members to acquire a piece of art and support the institution.
Saturday, September 1st, 2012, from 7PM - upon registration

Dorothée Dupuis’ word, Director of Triangle France
What adventures we’ve lived through since the preparation of the first Triangle Gala! So many artists selected and exhibited, catalogs published, performances played, encounters, conferences, studio visits, press trips organized! How complicated it is to create, stage, tell stories, surprise, formalize, erect, capture, and engage in dialogue! And yet, this is exactly what we have done with the artists, participants, the team, the board of directors, the funders, and the international network of Triangle France during these 5 years since I took up my position on September 1, 2007, freshly arrived from the capital, head full of warnings from the Cassandras as well as the promises that the city of Marseille seems to offer to every newcomer.
Present at the first board meeting for the creation of the SCIC-SA Friche Belle de Mai in July 2007 with Alun Williams, our president, we signed Triangle’s commitment to an unprecedented human and collective adventure for the transformation of the Friche Belle de Mai site. This commitment was quickly consolidated by the creation of the Cartel, an association bringing together six visual arts actors from the site, with Triangle being its driving force in its early days. In 2013, the Cartel structures will proudly present the first edition of the ambitious “Artiste Invité” project, aimed at uniting their programs around a guest artist invited to work at the Friche for a year, providing the public with unprecedented visibility— for the pivotal year, the prestigious Atelier Van Lieshout. This project will enhance collaboration between the various fields of activity (exhibition, residency, publication…) carried by the member structures, for optimal support of young creation—a priority that remains central to us.
Leading an organization like Triangle France, developing it, consolidating it, and ensuring the longevity of its actions while offering a stimulating and innovative working environment to both the artists and professionals involved in the program and my collaborators, has been both an honor and a challenge that has driven my life day and night for 5 years. After a selection process, which I want to emphasize for its transparency and quality, curator Céline Kopp, with her demanding and international profile, was selected by our board and funders to succeed me as the director of Triangle, just before 2013, the year Marseille will be the European Capital of Culture—a year full of expectations. I wish her, the Triangle team, the Cartel members, and the Friche in general the best as they make the most of this jubilant year, while keeping in mind the challenges that lie ahead, particularly in 2014. But in the meantime, the atmosphere is festive, and this 5th Triangle Gala, the last one conceived under my direction, is no exception! The list of artists is once again fabulous, and while we await a potential new format, it’s good to enjoy the raffle, which will once again this year, thanks to your support, help fund Triangle and the artists that the association defends!
Looking forward to greeting you on September 1st.
Sincerely,
Dorothée Dupuis
Director of Triangle France
Register to the Gala
For 100 euros (33 euros after tax deduction),
Join the gala dinner and become a member of the association. Discover the Château Ricard that you missed last year because your best friend or daughter was getting married that very weekend during Art-o-rama, and spend an hour wondering at the table which artist you would most like to dine with—the sexy sculptor or the funny performance artist. Indulge in as many hors d’oeuvres as you like, though you’ll probably not have room for dessert, which will be served before the raffle, for fear of seeing your favorite prize snatched by a competing participant. And support Triangle France, a public interest association that has been making Marseille compete with the great art capitals for over 17 years through the quality of its programs, especially its artist residency program. A must!
For an additional 300 euros (limited to 40 tickets available),
Purchase a raffle ticket that will make you the proud owner of a work by a promising or established artist, but in any case, an artist committed to supporting our association’s programs through their generous donation! Each work is valued at 300 euros or more. If your ticket is drawn first, you can choose from all the artworks. If you’re drawn last, you get the final piece. An authenticity certificate will be provided for each winning artwork. If you cannot attend, you can purchase a raffle ticket by mail by sending us your order of choice on a blank sheet of paper.
