Triangle France's First Gala
Between 2008 and 2017, Triangle France organized 7 editions of a charity gala, with the funds raised supporting the operations of the association. Between 40 and 70 artworks, produced and donated by artists closely linked to the institution, were offered for sale, allowing Triangle France members to acquire a piece of art and support the institution.
Friday, September 12th, 2008, from 7PM - upon registration

The word of Dorothée Dupuis, Director, and Alun Williams, President of Triangle France
Triangle France is a non-profit organization founded in 1995 that presents contemporary art exhibitions and runs an artist residency program at its premises in La Friche Belle de Mai, Marseille. The organization also coordinates publications, meetings, and exchanges while actively engaging in cultural policy discussions with La Friche’s residents and local stakeholders. Triangle promotes emerging visual artists within a professional network in France and internationally, notably through its membership in Resartis and the Triangle Arts Trust.
To support its numerous projects, Triangle is launching an unprecedented event: a Grand Gala to benefit the organization, taking place on September 12, 2008, during the contemporary art fair Art-O-Rama. This prestigious evening will serve as a unique opportunity for meaningful encounters between artists, collectors, entrepreneurs, art lovers, and professionals in the contemporary art world.
With this event, we aim to initiate a discussion on how civil society can support cultural organizations like ours. We believe it is crucial to develop new models of support for emerging artists—models that, while acknowledging the necessity of state funding, also encourage the active participation of economic stakeholders in cultural prosperity. More than ever, culture remains an essential tool for society to reflect on itself, define its identity, and cultivate the creativity needed to address future challenges.
The Triangle Raffle will showcase the work of 70 artists who have collaborated with Triangle or support its mission. It offers a fun and engaging way to support the association, providing some participants with their first exposure to contemporary art—and perhaps even inspiring them to start a collection. We are thrilled at the prospect of realizing ever more ambitious projects through the Gala and hope it will foster exciting collaborations and reflections in support of emerging contemporary art.
Organizing such an event is an exciting challenge for the entire Triangle team, as well as for the artists who have placed their trust in us.
This catalog presents the works featured in the Raffle, the centerpiece of the Triangle Gala. We have taken great care in designing this resource, which serves a dual purpose: encouraging potential participants to purchase a ticket and helping ticket holders prepare their preferred selection before the excitement of the draw. We are confident that you will find works that resonate with you among the outstanding contributions of these 70 French and international artists, both emerging and established, who have generously donated their work. Like us, they believe in defending culture together, hand in hand. We extend our deepest gratitude to them above all.
We sincerely hope these words have convinced you to join us for the Gala on Friday, September 12, and we look forward to welcoming you there.
Until then, sincerely,
Alun Williams, President
Dorothée Dupuis, Director
