“Faire Zarma” means “to fake” or “to pretend.” This question of mimesis, inherent in the history of art, can find a new incarnation during an artist residency. Indeed, it is not insignificant to confront one’s artistic research with the tumultuous city of Marseille. Identity issues always emerge in more or less admitted ways. This city shakes the senses of its visitors, ultimately getting them to take the rhythm of this cultural chaos.

Andreas, Hélène, and Hayan make it a point to highlight the popular culture and the peculiarities of the geographic area that welcomes them, both in the architectural, historical, social, and musical fields. However, none of them claim to become a Phocean chameleon. Rather, more or less consciously, it is about creating a patchwork of the contradictions of Marseille that shatter our references and daily representation patterns, and giving them a new readability.
