Sophie Lapalu

Sophie Lapalu is in residence at Fonderie Darling (Montreal, CA), as part of an exchange program with Astérides.
Art critic and exhibition curator, Sophie Lapalu is a graduate of the École du Louvre (Paris) and the École du Magasin (Grenoble). She is completing her doctoral thesis under the supervision of Jean-Philippe Antoine at Université Paris 8, where she currently teaches, after three years as coordinator of the ENSAPC exhibition space, YGREC (Paris).
Viewing exhibitions and programming as opportunities to experiment with her research, she has organized exhibitions such as A Secret Poet (Jeffrey Perkins) (La Vitrine and CAC Brétigny, Paris, 2011), D’échec en échec sans perdre son enthousiasme (YGREC, Paris, 2012), Cargo Culte (Jardin d’Agronomie Tropicale du Bois de Vincennes, Paris, 2013), L’île (Centre Culturel Français, Karlsruhe, 2013), Pretty Vacant (Villa Renata, Basel, and La Chaufferie, Strasbourg, 2013), as well as performance programs like No sport (YGREC, 2012), Revue blanche pour Nuit Blanche (Théâtre du Grand Parquet, Paris, October 2013), and Que s’est-il passé ? (MAC/VAL, Vitry, 2014).
She has been in residence at Les Verrières (Pont-Aven, 2012), Astérides artists’ studios (Marseille, 2014), and publishes regularly in periodicals and exhibition catalogues (Florence Jung, Rien n’est vrai, tout est permis, Piano Nobile, Geneva, 2014; Jean-Christophe Norman, De l’action à la conversation, FRAC Franche-Comté, Presses du Réel, Dijon, 2014; Céline Ahond, Tu vois ce que je veux dire ?, Écart Production, Strasbourg, 2014, for example).
