Anna Fasshauer

Session #2
01 May to 25 July 2008

Anna Fasshauer is a Triangle France Resident.

Anna Fasshauer was born in 1975, and lives and works in Berlin (DE)

Anna Fasshauer works with sculpture using a technique specific to collage, drawing inspiration from a body of architectural images cut from the press or found on the internet, balancing between figuration and abstraction. She enjoys creating assemblages like models at different, unexpected, and sometimes obsolete scales. No more obviousness, these utopian structures can be very large or very small, their balance determined by the force of gravity. The brutality and simplicity of the forms of these sculpture-collages thus give dimension and relief to an unreal space, seemingly dominated by two-dimensionality.

One could say that Anna Fasshauer generates accretions: she captures and makes material concrete under the effect of gravitation. As in astronomy, this materialization occurs when a compact object is located in an environment of diffuse matter… like stars in formation.
