Anne-Marie St-Jean Aubre

01 September to 30 October 2014

Anne-Marie St-Jean Aubre is an Astérides Resident in 2014.

Anne-Marie St-Jean Aubre is currently in residence as part of an exchange program between Fonderie Darling (Montreal, CA) and Astérides.

Holding a Master’s degree in Art Studies from the Université du Québec à Montréal, Anne-Marie St-Jean Aubre is a regular contributor to various magazines and publications, in addition to developing projects as an independent curator. Her curatorial work includes, among others, the exhibitions Faire comme si… (Musée régional de Rimouski, 2012), Tania Ruiz Gutiérrez. Les figures du temps et de l’espace (Galerie de l’UQAM and Cinémathèque québécoise, Montréal, 2012 / Séquence, Chicoutimi, 2013), and RE: Faire comme si… (Maison des arts de Laval, 2014).

She worked as production coordinator for Ciel variable magazine before joining the team at SBC Gallery of Contemporary Art, first as exhibition coordinator, then as associate curator. Her interests focus particularly on identity, cultural issues, and questions of performativity and representation, insofar as they problematize the passage from reality to fiction.

At the end of her residency, Anne-Marie St-Jean Aubre curated the exhibition Entre-deux, 2014.
