Annie-Laurie Le Ravalec

1996, 1997

Annie-Laurie Le Ravalec is an Astérides Resident in 1996 and 1997. The archives of Triangle-Astérides do not allow for the determination of the exact dates or the duration of this residency in 1996 and 1997.

Annie-Laurie Le Ravalec was born in 1968 in Nantes (FR), where she lives and works

The 1990s, strongly marked by the return of the body to the art scene, naturally saw Annie-Laurie Le Ravalec assert her place within this family of artists, among whom the most influential include Louise Bourgeois and Eva Hesse.

In 1998, Annie-Laurie Le Ravalec felt she had exhausted the subject and refused to endlessly repeat the stock of forms she had developed up to that point. That was when she invented the framework that would allow her to continue her artistic approach with renewed energy. This framework is a fictional device that freed her from the constraints of a single, fixed, closed self, trapped in coherence and deadly boredom.
It has long been known that “I is another”; Annie-Laurie Le Ravalec has been joyfully experimenting with this idea ever since she split into a dozen personalities grouped under the generic title: Les Incohérentes.
