As part of a curatorial residency in partnership with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Friche la Belle de Mai, aimed at curators from Lusophone African art scenes.

Apolo de Carvalho is a Cabo Verdean researcher whose practice combines research, collective curatorial practice and cultural programming. He is currently a PhD candidate in Post-Colonialisms and Global Citizenship at the University of Coimbra. Rooted in radical Pan-African traditions of thought and cultural practice, his work draws on long-term collaborations with Cabo V erdean Batuku women in the diaspora, as well as on initiatives such as Konferénsia Panafrikanu di Lisboa and Marxa Cabral. He is currently exploring the geopolitics of minoritised African languages, particularly Cabo Verdean as infrastructures of linguistic sovereignty, collective memory and liberation.
