The archives of Triangle-Astérides do not allow for the determination of the exact dates or the duration of this residency in 2009.

Charlotte Cochelin lives and works in Paris (FR).

“My projects are deeply influenced by the history of French Guiana, its identities, and its diverse communities: the blending of cultures, traditions, and knowledge, but also conditioning, submission, dependence, and finally, alternatives, resistance, and revolt. Through travels and encounters, I have become interested in unconventional ways of life, popular cultures, and rebellious identities. From this arose an interest in a form of engaged yet minimal art, reflecting a visibly global economic and social context.

My practice, at the crossroads of drawing, sculpture, and architecture, takes the form of artistic interventions in both urban and rural spaces. Straddling performance and street art, my actions are a form of activism and seek to question several key notions: the conditioning of private space within public space, the territory as a site for creation, exhibition, and the emergence of art, and the relationship between an artwork and its audience in the broadest sense.” – Charlotte Cochelin
