Cyril Verde

Session #2
01 May to 25 July

Cyril Verde was born in 1986 and lives and works in Issy-les-Moulineaux (FR).

Cyril Verde’s work is built around methods and routines that organize his time and energy. The forms he produces result from precise choices, both on a macro-curatorial scale (schedule, connections with potential collaborators, etc.) and in the micro-management of his activities (protocols, choice of tools, etc.). He is particularly interested in the scripting of work through editorial forms such as patents, school exercise books, user manuals, etc. Since 2012, he has dedicated part of his practice to writing instructions, the activation of which results in sculptures, situations, and exhibitions; fleeting incarnations of a homogeneous editorial form tending toward the convergence of the project, protocol, and archive. Designed to be read, understood, and interpreted, these instruction manuals, through their accumulation, form a working framework and an evolving catalog raisonné.

Recently, his work has been shown in the exhibitions Sir Thomas Trope at La Villa du Parc, Annemasse (FR), 2012; Never Ending Object VI at the Biennale de Belleville, Paris (FR), 2012; Overlapping Biennial at the 5th Biennial of Young Artists, Bucharest (RO), 2012; Poppositions off fair at Brussels Congrès, Brussels (BE), 2012; 57ème Salon de Montrouge at Le Beffroi, Montrouge (FR), 2012; FlashFlood at little berlin, Philadelphia (US), 2012; and Décollages - Volet 1: Collage at Florence Loewy, Paris (FR), 2012.
