Dan Walwin

Session #1
01 January to 01 April

Dan Walwin was born in 1986 in Frome (GB), he lives and works in Amsterdam (NL).

Dan Walwin’s works pay acute and visceral attention to the details and debris found within the hybrid and potentially uncomfortable interiors of ill-fitting forms. These works evoke associations with pop culture, scientific research, and speculative fiction, using scale and imitation as a way to structure the atmosphere during the encounter between the viewer and the work.

Dan Walwin studied at Goldsmiths College in London from 2004 to 2007, and was an artist-in-residence at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam from 2012 to 2013. His work will be presented in 2016 at the exhibition Inflected Objects #2: Circulation - mise en séance at De Hallen, Haarlem, and the Dorothea van Stetten Art Award at Kunstmuseum Bonn. He personally exhibited Winds at Cell project space in London, and Sun room at P/////AKT in Amsterdam in 2015. His group exhibitions include VISIO Next Generation Moving Images at CCC Strozzina in Florence in 2015; Marl Media Art Awards at Skulpturenmuseum Glaskasten in Marl in 2014; Out There - Video Art, New media & Photography on Landscapes in Public Space in Maastricht in 2014; Interzones at the Wexner Center for the Arts, Ohio State University, Columbus in 2013; UTOPIA at Stedelijk at Trouw Contemporary Art Club, Trouw in Amsterdam in 2013; and End Times at the South London Gallery in London in 2012.
