Davide Cascio draws from our cultural heritage to explore our relationship with the world—a relationship made up of transversal links and flows, both generational and cultural. The forms his works take (collages, sculptures) always reflect a sensitive investigation into what constitutes our collective memory. Architecture, a constant element in his work, serves as a metaphor for our participation in future civilization. This creates interstices between the private and public spheres, highlighting the workings of human relationships and contemporary societal changes.
— Cannelle Pdehetazque, La chambre, Galerie Xippas, 2011.
“…Thus geometry appears, the first character in our parable. The square block is the first and last act in the history of architectural ideas, as the intersection of the relationships between technology/sacredness/utilitarianism, between man machine rational structures and history.”
- Superstudio, 1969
“Using complex basic forms only disrupts the unity of the whole. Using a simple form repeatedly narrows the field of the work and concentrates the intensity to the arrangement of the form. This arrangement becomes the end while the form becomes the means.”
Sol LeWitt, “Paragraphs on Conceptual Art”, Artforum, June, 1967.
