Gereon Lepper
Gereon Lepper is an Astérides Resident.
Gereon Lepper was born in 1956 in Ratingen (DE)
From 1979 to 1987, he studied with Beate Schiff and Klaus Rinke at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. In his works, he combines archaic natural laws with technical invention and translates this into an artistic level that poetically recalls the foundations of the world around us and the ongoing process of energy transformation. With irony, he questions, through his sculptures, the human attempt to control the forces of nature through the “myth of the machine.”
Gereon Lepper received the Promotional Award of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in 1988, the August Seeling Promotional Award of the Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum in 1993, and the Robert Jacobsen Prize of the Würth Foundation in 1999.
