Guillaume Linard-Osorio

2009

Guillaume Linard-Osorio is an Astérides Resident in 2009. The archives of Triangle-Astérides do not allow for the determination of the exact dates or the duration of this residency in 2009.

Guillaume Linard-Osorio was born in 1978, he lives and works between Paris and Toulouse (FR)

“In his early work, Guillaume Linard-Osorio questioned the working methods he learned during his studies in design and architecture, engaging in a reflection on the relationship between image and material. The act of deconstruction appears to be as significant as the act of construction — the process of dislocation revealing the foundations of our environment, its hidden face, sometimes the unfathomable. By interrogating norms, structure, ornamentation, he seeks to create alternative relationships between body and space. His more recent compositions resemble architectonic forms almost freed from all functionality, or materials that are nearly raw, awaiting transformation. And it is this almost that gives them their full meaning.

Today, Guillaume Linard-Osorio focuses more on the conditions of the artwork than on the artwork itself. The almost raw, the almost standard at play in his compositions invites us to consider form-making through difference. Undoubtedly, his work also prompts a reconsideration of the role of standards and norms in our society. His projects now take on a form of interaction where the openness they produce is key.

The unfinished always remains. More than facing something under construction, as was typical in his earlier work, we are now confronted with something to be constructed — new possibilities for building, new materials for creating, certainly to signify that when the stage set collapses, it must be rebuilt.”
