Jennifer Lauren Martin
Jennifer Lauren Martin is an artist and filmmaker whose work grapples with questions of interpersonal belonging. Working across film and moving image, sound, performance, writing, and more, their projects explore a fear of never being understood by others, which often manifests as inner struggles, made visible in physical effects on the characters’ bodies.
They were awarded a Film London Lodestar as an Artist Filmmaker in 2021. Other awards include the Stuart Croft Foundation Education Award (2018) and Durham Wharf Foundation Award (2017). Lauren Martin is a co-director of not/nowhere, a black and POC-led film coop and a senior tutor at Ruskin School of Art, Oxford University.
