Jules Lagrange

“On the surface, there are images and sounds. They follow the code. Love is likely, the costumes are coherent, adapted to the bodies. The heroes I create or borrow have the usual attributes. The atmosphere is seductive, ready to be loved. However, the code remains inactive, emptied of its original meaning. Indeed, the forces that govern my films and installations are different. They do not respond to the conformist desires of the audience, nor to commercial interests.
What interests me, whether in a group with PFC Squad or alone, is to strip away the fantasized veil surrounding industrial images in order to reveal the dryness of a complex world. To make an act of resistance by presenting the inner effervescence to which an entire generation is subjected. An effervescence full of that troubling melancholy caused by the wait for the burst that will lead us all to liberation.” - Jules Lagrange
Jules Lagrange’s work is on display during the exhibition Aperçu avant impression, 2015.
