Liv Schulman

Session #2
01 May to 25 July

Liv Schulman lives and works in Paris (FR) and Buenos Aires (AR).

“A biting sense of humor, combined with a sharp analysis of language conventions, is the driving force behind the work of Argentine artist Liv Schulman. Through filmed fictions, theatrical performances, or novelistic writing, Liv Schulman produces logorrheic discourses, delivered by interchangeable characters, ectoplasms ventriloquized by these disjointed monologues, which borrow from the vocabularies of art, liberal economics, Marxist critical theory, or psychotherapy. Blended into one another, these absurd and delirious discourses produce a paranoid interpretation of the social world, grounded in the alienation of bodies, the devaluation of identities, and the aporia of the infinite desire in the search for meaning.” - Les Ateliers de Rennes, Contemporary Art Biennal, 2016

Liv Schulman has shown her work at several festivals dedicated to video/performance in Brazil and Argentina, as well as at the Museum of Modern Art in Buenos Aires. In 2016, she was an artist-in-residence at the post-graduate program of Ensba Lyon, the Noisy-le-Sec Gallery, and the Parc Saint Léger.
