Marion Ritzmann
Marion Ritzmann is an Astérides Resident in 2012. The archives of Triangle-Astérides do not allow for the determination of the exact dates or the duration of this residency in 2012.
Marion Ritzmann was born in Schaffhausen (CH), she lives and works between Basel and Zurich (CH)
Marion Ritzmann’s work unfolds across several media, chosen according to the idea, with the concept serving as the structural foundation of her pieces. Her universe is inspired by everyday observations of reality. These fragments are collected to create an imaginary archive through notes and drawings. These materials are then recombined in new ways, pushing the work toward further observations, often tinged with a touch of absurdity.
Marion Ritzmann subtly adapts these principles to other visual languages, often concealing them. Her work also responds to the context of the exhibition, with a key interest in shifting the viewer’s gaze through altered perception.
Her performances are rooted in the field of living sculpture.
“Sculpture or living artworks are defined as artists who exhibit themselves or others as sculptural projects, presenting themselves as artworks through their appearances or actions.”
– Marie-Luise Lange
