Martin Belou

Session #2
01 May to 25 July

Martin Belou was born in 1986 in L’Union (FR), he lives and works in Marseille (FR).

Martin Belou is an artist who creates performative situations and experiences using the elements: earth, water, air, and fire. Guided by intuition and a kind of artisanal know-how, he combines sculptures, drawings, and organic materials (mushrooms, spices, wood, metal, stone, charcoal…) in installations that often address universal notions related to manual labor, tradition, and community.

Martin Belou founded De La Charge, an artist-run space active for three years in Brussels, as well as The Walk, a platform listing all independent spaces in the city. His work has been shown in several project spaces, galleries, and institutions in France, Belgium, Mexico, and Germany. In March 2019, he presented his first solo gallery exhibition in Marseille at Catherine Bastide Projects, in partnership with Triangle France - Astérides. He also participated in the exhibition Futur, Ancien, Fugitif, dedicated to the French art scene at the Palais de Tokyo, Paris.
