Nele Waldert

01 to 01 January 1997

Nele Waldert is a Triangle France Resident in 1997. The archives of Triangle-Astérides do not allow for the determination of the exact dates or the duration of this residency in 1997.

Nele Waldert was born in 1964 in Düssendolf (DE), where she lives and works.

The work of sculptor Nele Waldert, who lives and works in Düsseldorf, is primarily shaped by found natural materials such as branches, twigs, forest fruits, grasses, plane tree wood, or pine cones, which she assembles and interweaves with human figures. Some sculptures also incorporate fragments of vases.
In addition, she employs more abstract forms made of glass, ceramic, rattan, or crystal, which she often produces herself. Her transformative figures appear to originate from genuine transitional worlds—once seen, they linger in the viewer’s mind.
Through her small white or black humanoids, preserved in their original form and endlessly replicated, she suspends all that is familiar and visible, lifting it out of well-established art-historical contexts, classifications, and traditional lineages.
