Nicolas Pelzer

Session #1
01 January to 01 April

Nicolas Pelzer was born in 1982, he lives and works in Berlin (DE).

“My in-situ work largely consists of installations and sculptures. I react to pre-existing spaces with works that interfere with the architecture and the historical context of the site. The sculptures always use an abstract language, appearing in the form of formal and geometric elements that carry an orderly aspect. On the other hand, the choice to use fragile materials and an imperfect look in most of my works deconstructs this arranged structure. This creates a relationship between the search for the absolute and more fragmented circumstances. All my works are mobile in a certain way because they involve the non-monumental aspect, which is signified as a resistance against immutability. I prefer to design my work for places that are already contextualized in terms of specific historical and political conditions. The blend between space and works creates an important relationship between reality and abstraction. I see my work as a form of research into structures and cultural patterns, which influence how we perceive our daily lives.” - Nicolas Pelzer
