As a draughtsman and painter, Olivier Nottellet transforms his sketchbooks into sometimes monumental installations that make use of both paint and manufactured objects. His method draws on cinematic editing to create a singular and poetic universe, sometimes humorous and absurd, often inhabited by male and bureaucratic figures. He is committed to transforming and questioning the spaces entrusted to him, favouring narrative possibilities and the multiplication of viewpoints. Words and language increasingly structure his installations, which seek to fracture our understanding in order to preserve the zones of possibility too often subjected to a single, unambiguous meaning.
