2027 Open Call
2027 Open Call
Until 20 May 2026 à 18h00
Apply to become a Resident or Associate Artist at Triangle-Astérides in 2027!
— The Residency program (program 1) is intended for early/midcareer artists from French (excluding Marseille) and international scenes, regardless of age or nationality.
— The Associate Artists program (program 2, open since 2023) is intended for early/midcareer artists from the local scene, based in Marseille and its surroundings.
The selection process is completed in two stages:
— during the first stage all applications are read and considered carefully and a preselection process is completed by an independent curator commissioned by Triangle-Astérides (and different each year);
— the second and final stage is a jury selection which takes place over two days in June. The jury is made up of a curator and an artist (French and international representatives), commissioned by Triangle-Astérides (and different each year), and of two members of the Triangle-Astérides team.
Each year, the Triangle-Astérides jury curates a mixed selection in terms of artistic practice, training background, age, gender, nationality(ies) and place of residence.
All applicants will be notified in July 2026.
Residency
Call for applications for a research residency, intended for early/mid-career artists from French (excluding Marseille) and international scenes, without age or nationality criteria, for a period of 2 months.
The call is addressed to artists in the field of visual arts, all mediums combined. The art center offers the possibility of welcoming duos, and of coming with a partner and/or child(ren), taking into account the community living conditions implied by the shared apartment.
Session #1: from January 11 to March 12, 2027
Session #2: from April 26 to June 25, 2027
Session #3: from September 13 to November 12, 2027
The program offers:
— a 60 m² studio at Triangle-Astérides (individual, unless the application is submitted by a duo);
— a private bedroom (or two bedrooms for duos) in a 90 m², four-bedroom apartment shared with other residents and/or guests of Triangle-Astérides (shared bathroom, kitchen, and living room), located in downtown Marseille;
— a monthly residency fee of €1,000 gross, paid to the artist upon submission of an invoice (in the case of a duo application, the fee will be paid to the administrative entity and cannot be doubled);
— a paid Open Studio;
— individual support (depending on expressed needs: networking, research support, curatorial or administrative advice, etc.) from the Triangle-Astérides team, within the limits of its capacity (our team of three unfortunately cannot dedicate as much time to residents as we would like).
Each residency period has its own specificity and advantages.
— Session #1 (January-March): a period conducive to concentration, ideal for carrying out focused research or completing a project / opening of one of Triangle-Astérides’ two annual exhibitions in late January or early February, which results in reduced availability of the team beforehand due to exhibition installation / generally mild temperatures (5–20°C), although the mistral wind is frequent.
— Session #2 (April-June): an ideal period for networking, as many art professionals are temporarily based in Marseille with the arrival of the warmer season / a culturally dynamic period in Marseille (Printemps de l’art contemporain festival in early May, involving all cultural institutions across the metropolitan area) / opening of one of Triangle-Astérides’ two annual exhibitions in June, resulting in reduced team availability from mid-May due to exhibition installation / summer temperatures (20–30°C), with easy access to surrounding nature and the sea.
— Session #3 (September-November): the period with the greatest availability of the Triangle-Astérides team for residents, ideal for those seeking sustained support / a culturally dynamic period in mainland France (Art Basel Paris fair and related events in October, easily reachable by train from Marseille) / milder temperatures than in summer, with continued easy access to nature and the sea, and fewer tourists.
Please note that Triangle-Astérides is unfortunately unable to cover round-trip travel to Marseille, but is committed to providing any necessary support in seeking additional funding for the artists’ stay.
This program includes temporary accommodation which is why it is not open to the local scene, for which the associated artists program was designed (program no. 2), allowing support over a longer period of time. Please only apply to one of the two programs, depending on your place of residence.
Associate Artists
Call for applications to the Associate Artists program, offering an individual artist’s studio along with the co-production of an artwork or project by the art center, intended for early/midcareer artists from the local scene (Marseille and its metropolitan area), without age or nationality criteria.
A single annual session: from January 8 to December 18, 2027
The associate artists program offers:
— a 60 to 90 m2 studio at Triangle-Asterides (individual, unless the application is submitted by a duo or collective);
— co-production support for an artwork or project up to €1,000 (allocated between fees and/or production costs depending on the type of work), to be discussed with the art center team according to the artist’s projects during the year of collaboration;
— one to three paid Open Studio events over the year (on the same dates as each of the three residency sessions);
— individual support (depending on expressed needs: networking, research and/or production support, curatorial or administrative advice, project proposals, etc.) from the Triangle-Astérides team, within the limits of its capacity (our team of three unfortunately cannot dedicate as much time to our Associate Artists as we would like).
Because this program does not include accommodation, it is only open to artists living in Marseille and its surroundings (within commuting distance of Triangle-Astérides). Please apply for only one of the two programs, depending on where you live.
