Ryder Morey-Weale

Session exceptionnelle 2021
12 April to 12 July

In response to the COVID crisis, Triangle-Astérides and La Friche joined forces to provide workspaces for artists from the Marseille area in the fall of 2020.

Ryder Morey-Weale was born in 1994 in Eindhoven (NL) and lives and works in Marseille (FR).

Through sculptural and sound installations, Ryder Morey-Weale develops eco-fictions based on mutations observed within urban ecosystems. By gathering invasive plants, recordings of bird songs, or construction materials from abandoned sites, his work creates prospective environments in which unexpected cohabitations and alliances propose new ways of perceiving and inhabiting the world.

Ryder Morey-Weale studied at the Institut Supérieur des Arts de Toulouse, where he obtained his DNSEP in 2019. He participated in the Création et Mondialisation research program at the Offshore School in Shanghai, China, where he took part in several exhibition projects. In 2020, he completed a residency at Maison Salvan in Labège and presented his work in March 2021 at Bungalow, Berlin, as part of a solo exhibition.
