Sylvain Ciavaldini was born in 1970 in Marseille, he lives and works in Marseille (FR).
The communication society and its most extroverted counterpart—the media—are at the heart of Sylvain Ciavaldini’s work. While staging himself, he questions the status of the artist, the nature of the artwork, and their relationship to the public. His work occupies a unique in-between space where the comic and the tragic intersect.
Beyond all the mechanisms that contribute to the making of modern heroes, the video artist ultimately lays bare the obvious difficulty of simply being.
