Festival Actoral - 9ème édition

What do you do for a living? - from Valérie Mréjen’s work

With Bad Beuys Entertainment, Cécile Bicler, Keren Cytter, Thibault Gleize, Valérie Mréjen, Julie Vayssière

As part of the Festival Actoral, from September 28 to October 10, 2009.

Triangle then proposes to take a close look at how Mréjen engages with various genres (visual arts, writing, documentary…) simultaneously, and this through the work of other artists with similar concerns. This highlights the irredeemably pagan and hybrid nature of contemporary art and the works of those who wish to be associated with it: both young and older artists have notably explored adjacent cultural production modes—publishing, cinema, live performance—as virgin territories to be contaminated by reflections that transcend traditional narrative frameworks… as well as their audience.

The program then consists of a video installation, discreet happenings in public space, and a screening of artists’ films where Mréjen is present but in a ghostly manner. The various works echo the artist’s almost schizophrenic observation of real life and her persistence in tracking the recurring impressions of artificiality, as well as her passion for micro-narratives that reveal more than the grandest sagas.
