Yesterday is also Tomorrow and Today is like Here

With Ulla von Brandenburg and her guests Pauline Simon and Christophe Ives

Saturday, November 26 and Sunday November 27, 2016, from 2PM to 5PM.

The costumes that make up the installation come from various collections, periods, and origins (theatre, circus, dance). They are arranged like a collection of paintings, revealing their unique features and distinctiveness. These costumes carry an imaginary world—distant or everyday, ornate or elegant, from here or elsewhere. Ulla von Brandenburg chose to make them the starting point for the development of gestural sequences, created in dialogue between the director, the dancers, and the artist.

During the performance, the dancers are invited to put on these costumes and bring them to life by inventing ways of moving inspired by their characteristics and the era from which they come. In doing so, they embody the stories that pass through and shape the body—stories marked by morality, culture, social class, gender, and more.

The worshop is part of the public program of the exhibition Interprétations à l’oeuvre, 2017.
