For the third and final part of the Transmission(s) program, Triangle France invites artist Nicolas Momein to exhibit a work in the courtyard of the town hall of the 11th arrondissement of Paris. He will be present during the history of art courses on 20th and 21st centuries on Thursday, May 15, to present his work, and also offers the opportunity to meet him on Friday, May 16, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Nicolas Momein lives and works in Saint-Étienne (FR) and Geneva (CH). Momein develops a sculptural practice that borrows its modes of production from various trades. By studying the function of objects as well as the gestures and techniques associated with their design and use, he acquires knowledge and skills that he reinvests into his work. His sculptures are nourished by heterogeneous materials, which engage gestures absorbed over time, empirically. Nicolas Momein embraces the role of an apprentice: “These situations lead me to develop a collaborative work economy toward a production that relies on processes and materials assigned to tasks that are usually invisible and undervalued.”
