Dominique Hurth

Session #1
01 January to 01 April

Dominique Hurth was born in 1985 and lives and works between Berlin (DE) and Maastricht (NL).

Dominique Hurth is an artist and researcher. Her work explores the traces of personal, cultural, and historical memory present in places, texts, and images. Through drawings, films, texts, and installations, her practice engages with the mechanisms of memory and history—how they are constructed and narrated. The starting point for new artistic research is often a document, which materializes through translation, citation, reconfiguration, and reconstruction. She examines the shifts between narrative memory and cultural memory, reflects on unresolved historical events, and observes from multiple perspectives the gaps and dislocations that exist between the original reference and its copy. Her installations create encounters with both contemporary and historical memories, engaging with the collective and individual recollection of history while opening up multiple interpretations of the past.
