Halida Boughriet

Session #2
01 May to 25 July

Halida Boughriet lives and works in France

Halida Boughriet is a contemporary artist of Algerian origin, currently living and working in Paris. A former student of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, she went on to study film at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York until 2005. That same year, she won and exhibited the 1st Prize for Young Creator in Photography from LVMH for Attente du Verdict. She is the author of diverse works, ranging from performance to photography, sculpture, and video.

Her work lies at the intersection of aesthetic, social, and political concerns. Through her dual Western and Eastern cultural background, Halida brings to light questions about the power and violence in human relationships. She offers us a vision of humanity within its political and social context while preserving a poetic approach to her encounters with these individuals. With each of her artworks, she brings to the forefront individuals who are often overlooked.
