Jacques Flechemuller
Jacques Flechemuller is a Triangle France Resident in 1997. The archives of Triangle-Astérides do not allow for the determination of the exact dates or the duration of this residency in 1997.
Jacques Flechemuller was born in Monaco in 1945, he lives and works between Ardèche region (FR) and Brooklyn (US).
Described by writer Doug Harvey as a “prankster,” Flechemuller’s work combines a sense of formalist traditional painting, all the while capturing the complex emotions of the human spirit. Through playful and remarkably unique compositions, Flechemuller’s paintings arrive at a place of subtle but brilliant sophistication. In the artist’s own words “Humor is a very important function in Art. (I love when my wife stands in front of my work, laughing!) Art is often so serious, pretending to deliver important messages. For messages, there are messengers. I prefer stupid stories. The more stupid they are, the better i feel.”
