Jean-Charles de Quillacq

Jean-Charles de Quillacq was born in 1978 in Parthenay (FR). He lives and works in Sussac (FR) and Zürich (CH).

Jean-Charles de Quillacq is a former resident of the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam and participated in the 2014 research program at Villa Arson, where he took part in the exhibition L’Après-midi (curated by Mathieu Mercier). His work has also been shown at the Fondation d’Entreprise Ricard (Paris) in the exhibition Humainnonhumain (curated by Anne Bonnin), as well as at CNEAI (Chatou), Juliette Jongma (Amsterdam), Klemm’s (Berlin), and Barbara Seiler (Zürich). In 2016, he took part in the project That Cool Decline at Occidental Temporary (Villejuif), held a solo exhibition, Je t’embrasse tous, at Marcelle Alix (Paris), which represents his work, and produced a performance, Fraternité, Passivité, Bienvenue, at the Palais de Tokyo in collaboration with Jean-Christophe Arcos.

In 2017, he was one of the winners of the Swiss Art Awards. In 2018, he presented a solo exhibition, La langue de ma bouche, with Hedwig Houben at La Galerie, Centre d’Art Contemporain de Noisy-le-Sec (curated by Emilie Renard). Following his residency, he participated in the group exhibition Vos désirs sont les nôtres at Triangle France - Astérides (curated by Marie de Gaulejac and Céline Kopp), as well as in the 6th Rennes Biennale, À cris ouverts.
