Linda Sanchez

01 January to 01 June 2017

Linda Sanchez is an Astérides Resident in 2017.

Linda Sanchez was born in 1983 and lives and works in Marseille (FR).

Linda Sanchez’s work plays with the laws and physical phenomena (properties, combinations, state changes). She produces gestures of capture, recording, and extraction and develops tools and observation devices. Movement, both transcribed and reactivated, forms a significant part of her work. Over the past year, focusing on the surface and the plane (and interfacial phenomena), she has been exploring new methods of working, also engaging with cultural and ethical codes (in situ responses, staging, and representations).

Since the release of the book 14628.jpg in collaboration with writer Philippe Vasset (Editions ADERA) and as part of the DSRA at ESAAA (Annecy, 2015), she has undertaken several collaborative projects: INSA (Fluid Mechanics), École Centrale (Tribology Laboratory), Lyon Archaeological Service, Maison de l’Orient et de la Méditerranée in Lyon, and the Laboratory of Intuitions. Linda Sanchez has also participated in conferences, including with Nicolas Tixier at the Cresson Laboratory (2014) and with anthropologist Tim Ingold (2014).

In 2016, she completed a residency at Casa de Velazquez, Madrid. That same year, she participated in the Espace Cerveau Laboratory at the IAC in Villeurbanne and the 62nd Salon de Montrouge in Paris.

After earning a DNSEP from ESAAA (Annecy) in 2006, she exhibited with Les Galeries Nomades at the IAC in Villeurbanne in 2007, at MAC Lyon (Rdvs, 2008), at the Bertrand Grimont Gallery in Paris (Ritournelle et déhanchement, 2009), at the Château d’Annecy Museum (Plan sur ligne et point, 2011), at the Bullukian Foundation in Lyon (Incidents de surface, 2014), and at the Maison Salvan in Toulouse (Cabaret flux, 2016)…

Linda Sanchez’s work in on display during the exhibition Patio, pièce de verdure, détente, 2017.
