“I am a spectator who buys.
Sensitive to the emotional/impulsive/desirous charge contained in media (advertisements, films, music videos, TV shows), I feel it!
And then I translate these experiences. I explore different levels of intensity on the stage of emotional consumption: from dream! to everyday reality:
for example, packs of cookies. This creates a shift, a distortion -> A crisis.
The impact on me, on my body, I transmit it through my pieces. Motivated by the desire to experience pleasure.
In any song, there is this critical/regressive moment when everything shifts and strikes a sensitive cell in our brain.
It’s this kind of event that I probe.
Elucidating nostalgia? Without being consumed by it? “Pretend”
The entirety of my work functions through associations of ideas; the editing of images with each other is just as important as the content. I use their communicative aspect to establish a singular l-a-n-g-u-a-g-e.
I seize the space like a patchwork surface. There is no
RELIEF RELIEF RELIEF
I think of the expression “eye contour” on the cream. Contour like a drawing, my face like an image.” - Pauline Ghersi
A graduate of the Beaux-Arts de Lyon in 2017, Pauline Ghersi develops a practice of writing and video based on her own images and those of others, royalty-free music, and quotes: “Speaking with the words of others is what I want, that must be what freedom is!”
The editing of samples allows her to compose fictions from encounters, places, or trivial experiences. Attentive to the forms of “spoken” language in the street, with family, and on TV, she articulates a language that progresses through associations of ideas, in an economy of means and gestures, manifesting a taste for lightness.
