Elsa Gaudefroy

Elsa Gaudefroy-Demombynes was born in 1973 in Nantes (FR)
Elsa Gaudefroy began studying music in 1977 and was awarded four gold medals in 1989 and 1996 for interpretation in flute, classical and contemporary chamber music (wind ensemble and mixed ensemble). In 1998, she earned a DNSEP (Higher National Diploma in Visual Expression) from the School of Fine Arts in Bordeaux.
In 2000, following an artist residency at La Friche Belle de Mai in Marseille, and with the support of Théâtre du Merlan, National Stage of Marseille, she created the solo dance piece Chantier as a tribute to the workers who built the ‘L’Alcazar’ library in Marseille. At the same time, she trained in contemporary and improvised dance through various workshops, notably with Mark Tompkins, Vera Mantero, and Germana Civera.
